The Preventive and Mandatory Social Isolation imposed by the coronavirus pandemic forced professionals to reformulate the treatment framework and therapeutic strategies. Contrary to what many of us expected, the virtualization of healthcare practices did not mean a deterioration in them, but rather proved to be very effective and, in some circumstances, even more so than face-to-face care. Even at this point we should stop referring to virtual psychotherapy as "non-face-to-face", because it is in any case another form of face-to-faceity.
The body is present in the virtual session. In the voice, in the look, in the emotion.
However, there is something very important that you must take into account if you decide on this modality. You will not be in an "aseptic" place as the office is intended, away from people, noises, even roles, which are part of your daily life. It is often said that the session is perhaps the only space that a consultant provides for himself / herself, as an act of recognition for himself / herself. Therefore, it is very important to have a space-time where there are no interruptions of any kind; where it is possible for you to suspend for the duration of the session, the performance of your usual roles. A place in the house, the car, a cafe where you can sit and talk comfortably. We will work together on the framing of the session in order to get the most out of each meeting.
